First Module Training
 
The 21 health workers were brought to Chandraprabha Eye Hospital (CPEH) where they were given 11 days training about eye, its disease and skill development to pick up persons with eye diseases on home visit. The training was provided by ophthalmologist, optometrists of CPEH and personal from OEU coming from Hyderabad at Chandraprabha Eye Hospital, Jorhat on March, 2012. At the end of the training the workers were taken to Bahfalla village ( Jorhat) for hand experience.

Faculties - CB Durah & Dr. M Goswami, resource persons from OEU, Hyderabad and Ophthalmologists from Chandraprabha Eye Hospital participated as faculty in the training programme.

Subjects - The programme includes, Childhood Blindness, Vitamin A and Child Health, Care of Pregnant women and lactating mothers, Care of New Born, Breast feeding, Artificial Feeding, Diarrhoea and Management, Available Government Services for children with in Anganwadi centers, Acute Respiratory Infection and Management in Children, Malnutrition in Children, Growth Monitoring in children, Personal Hygiene, Self Help Groups( need and methods), School Screening, Eye Donation and Networking.

Population covered - A house hold survey was done covering 1,40,000 population of Majuli to identify the patients of cataract and other eye diseases. The survey started on 5 April 2012 and ends on 17th June 2012.
